A little bit about ~

Mia O’ Connell

Mia O’ Connell is one of Ireland’s talented up and coming designers.

As a LSAD graduate (one of the places where all good Irish designers hail from), Mia has quite an impressive resume to date including Nokia Young Designer of the Year Finalist, Persil Young Designer Finalist and guest judge for Cork Fashion Week as well as work experience with some of the industry’s geniuses - John Rocha, Mario Schwab, Sakina M’sa and Vogue (British).

Since launching her label, Mia O’ Connell in 2010, it now adorns the rails of The Design Centre and Elaine Curtis in Carlow as well as having an online presence through her blog, Etsy and Not just a label.

Her recent collection appeared at the launch of Council of Irish Fashion Designers CIFD, of which Mia is an associate member. The cream dress with braided detail is the piece which I have fallen in love with. The elegance, fit and detail in the construction is exquisite. Having been featured in Stellar Magazine as well as Mia getting a mention in almost every newspaper in Ireland, this kind of publicity is good publicity!

The latest addition of her resume is Fashion Club founder. Established in Summer 2011, the club runs creative summer camps for children teaching them millinery, design, t-shirt customizing as well as a host of other things! A fun creative alternative to summer camps from years ago!

With her Autumn/Winter 2011 collection just launched, these are exciting times for Mia O’ Connell.
